Greased suede leather

Suede is made from the innermost layer of leather, superficially buffed to enhance its typical velvety feel. A final layer of grease highlights a variety of shades.

Before cutting, artisans carefully analyse the leather, eliminating any potential imperfections: this delicate process requires time and precision. A latex brush removes dust and residue, while a coarser brush is used to revive the nap, so the shoe remains just as soft and beautiful as you see it now.

Mounted construction

The artisan carefully studies the leather and chooses the best part, which is cut and shaped around the last to form the upper. It then needs to be delicately hammered, to smooth down the seams and soften the parts that come into contact with the foot. Now the upper is ready to be glued to the insole and then attached to the outsole.

Care

Leather gains beauty with age, so long as it is well taken care of. Here’s how:

  1. Use a brush to get rid of dust.
  2. If there are stains, rub them delicately using a soft-bristled brush, for example made from rubber (we use one made out of para rubber).
  3. Spray a brightening spray from 15-20 cm away from the shoe and wait for it to fully dry.
  4. Use a cloth to apply some neutral-colored waterproofing cream. It will help protect the shoe from rain and give it back that vintage look typical of greased suede leather.
  5. Use deodorizing sanitizer spray on the inside of the shoe; wait a few hours before wearing.

Take a look at our shoe care kits. You’ll find everything you need to care for suede leather of any color; there’s even a pot of waterproofing cream. Entirely made in Italy, naturally.

Design

A comfortable hiking boot featuring technical details. Inspired by mountain life, with a slightly lower profile. We were inspired by our sneaker design.

In technical terms, we say the shoe has a split upper: composed of multiple pieces of leather assembled during construction.

Between the leather and the lining we’ve inserted a membrane that helps insulate the foot from the cold and wet, along with the gusseted tongue.

The insole is removable with a contoured footbed, that can easily be taken out or reinserted as you please.

The sole is made from Vibram rubber: an example of Italian excellence that has revolutionized outdoor and leisure footwear.

Made in Italy

Production is based in Montegranaro, in the Marche region, where the tradition of shoemaking has deep roots. For a product that lasts, we only select leathers that age well and put our trust in people who have been in this industry for generations. The artisans in our workshops have learned the job through family and know each and every trade secret. Just like Nazareno, who buffs every shoe with extreme dexterity and precision.

Here are some of their stories.
