Waxed suede leather
Suede is made from the innermost layer of leather, superficially buffed to enhance its typical velvety feel - this is called scrivenza by the experts, a reference to the way you can almost ‘write’ on its surface. A final layer of wax evens out the tone to give the shoe a solid uniform look.
Before cutting, artisans carefully analyze the leather, eliminating any potential imperfections: this delicate process requires time and precision. A latex brush removes dust and residue, while a coarser brush is used to revive the nap, so the shoe remains just as soft and beautiful as you see it now.

Blake stitch construction
This construction method secures the sole to the shoe using a Blake stitch - named after the machine used to create it. The result is a lightweight yet durable product that trained cobblers will be able to resole.
The process begins with careful study of the leather; after finding the best part, the artisan cuts and shapes it round the last to form the upper. This is then delicately hammered to smooth down the seams and soften the parts that come into contact with the foot. Now the upper is ready to be glued to the insole and then attached to the outsole with a Blake stitch; the artisan guides the shoe under the needle with precision and expertise.

Vibram rubber lug sole
Vibram designed the lug sole in 1937, bringing together the grip of climbing shoes and the sturdiness of hiking shoes to form true Italian excellence. For this shoe, we’ve chosen a monobloc sole, durable and suitable for all terrains.

Care
Leather gains beauty with age, so long as it is well taken care of. Here’s how:
- Use a brush to get rid of dust.
- If there are stains, rub them delicately using a soft-bristled brush, for example made from rubber (we use one made out of para rubber).
- Spray a brightening spray from 15-20 cm away from the shoe and wait for it to fully dry.
- Use a cloth to apply some neutral-colored waterproofing cream. It will help protect the shoe from rain and give it back that vintage look typical of greased suede leather.
- Use deodorizing sanitizer spray on the inside of the shoe; wait a few hours before wearing.
Take a look at our shoe care kits. You’ll find everything you need to care for suede leather of any color; there’s even a pot of waterproofing cream. Entirely made in Italy, naturally.

Design
The skydiver-inspired combat boot. Its greased suede leather and rural look pair well with any casual outfit.
The laces start at the toe; this was traditionally done to allow better grip on the foot. These days it’s more of an aesthetic feature, a sign of an adventurous spirit.
The upper part of the shoe is the same color as the sole, for a clean uniform look. The lining is in matching smooth leather.
This shoe uses Blake stitch construction: the upper part of the shoe is molded and glued to the insole, then attached to the outsole using a Blake stitch to produce a lightweight flexible boot.

Made in Italy
Production is based in Montegranaro, in the Marche region, where the tradition of shoemaking has deep roots. For a product that lasts, we only select leathers that age well and put our trust in people who have been in this industry for generations. The artisans in our workshops have learned the job through family and know each and every trade secret. Just like Genesio, who cuts leather with a keen eye and extreme precision. Here are some of their stories.
