100% Cotton flannel

Flannel that’s free from synthetic materials offers a more genuine warmth: it retains heat and disperses it, allowing your skin to breathe. Cotton cultivation requires plenty of sunlight and long periods without frost, thus it can only be grown in certain parts of the world.

Ours is woven in Italy by the Grandi e Rubinelli workshops near Novara. This company specializes in shirt fabrics within Italy and worldwide. They only use carefully selected and entirely traceable natural fibers, adhering to the TF Traceability & Fashion, a voluntary traceability program promoted by the Italian chambers of commerce.

Care

This garment can be washed in the washing machine, on a low spin cycle that doesn’t exceed 30°C. Lay it out flat to dry to ensure it keeps its shape well.

If you’d like to be even gentler, wash it by hand: leave to soak for 5 minutes, rinse and wring it out while keeping it wrapped up in a towel to preserve the natural fibers.

Last tip from us: be conservative with the detergent and softener, there’s no need to overdo it. Store the clean folded garment in a cool dry place.

Design

Great craftsmanship begins with premium quality ethically-sourced materials, giving you a garment that will last a lifetime.

This shirt has a shifted armhole, a typical tailoring technique from Naples and Apulia that requires time and precision, resulting in a more comfortable piece that gives you room to move. Seams have seven stitches per centimeter: high-quality shirts have narrower stitches because they’re more refined and resistant.

The flat fell seam is 3mm wide: the border at the bottom is small and fine, and the side stitching is narrow and elegant. To fell means to sew on the wrong side, taking the excess fabric, folding it under a sewing machine foot and closing it all. This technique requires a certain level of experience.

Where the side seam meets the hem we’ve added a gusset, a small triangle of fabric to reinforce the stitching.

The buttons are made of mother-of-pearl trocas: a natural and precious material made from trochidae shells. Slightly opaque, it goes well with the sophisticated yet casual style of the shirt.

The finished garment is then washed, so the shirt will stay as beautiful as you see it. Our artisans line up the fabric at the cutting stage and wash the finished piece so it won’t shrink in subsequent washes.

Made in Italy

We’ve always put our trust in the hands of the best local craftsmen. Afterall, Italy itself is like a huge open-air workshop. This shirt was sewn in Francavilla Fontana, in the Brindisi province. The Apulian district has a long history in the textile industry. Antonio and Valentina, owners of our shirt factory there, have worked really hard to build a business that today operates worldwide.
